The Snapshots of Seddon community photography competition is an initiative of the Seddon Community Group. The competition was started in 2006 by Seddon local Larissa MacFarlane and is enormously popular amongst the community.

The local Seddon traders give up their valuable window space for a month and play host to the hundreds of entries that form the much loved street gallery through the Seddon village. The street gallery is an opportunity for the public to vote for the coveted people’s choice award and see finalists as they are announced.

The Seddon Community Group have brought the popular competition into the digital age and starting this year entries will be able to be submitted online as well as posted in the old fashioned way.

The 2016 competition launched at the Seddon Festival on the 5th of March with a pop-up retrospective gallery spanning a decade of old photographs. Festival goers were able to peek inside the funeral home on Victoria Street to see the gallery of past entries as Hollibone Funeral Directors generously opened their doors to the community for the day and their private chapel provided the setting for the gallery. The retrospective Snapshots gallery saw thousands of people through it’s doors on the day of the festival and proved to be an excellent venue for the display.

The 2016 competition will close for entries on the 1st of May, after which the street gallery and online gallery will be erected to display all of the photos from the community.

Get involved, take a photo and enjoy the show.
